"Dark Knight" Spies Reveal an Old Enemy!
by Scott Weinberg | June 22, 2007
Discuss Article
To those who were wondering if the Scarecrow character is coming back for "The Dark Knight," it seems like we have some very good news...

Thanks to Christopher Nolan's creepy approach and Cillian Murphy's fantastic performance, I found the Scarecrow to be one of the most fascinating characters in "Batman Begins." (And I know I'm not alone in that opinion.)

Although they've probably been trying to keep the news on the down-low, it seems like a Chicago-based movie spy was able to snap a picture of someone who really looks a lot like ... The Scarecrow! He's back! Maybe!

Then again it could just be a guy with a bag on his head. Guess we won't know until next summer. Or Nolan gives us a news scoop. Either way, I can't freakin' wait to see "The Dark Knight."

wait, a guy with a bag on his head in chitown?? must be a cubs fan. or urgh...a fellow Sox fan now that both teams suck. i thought Murphy was really good in his role. another GREAT casting choice, based on talent instead of going for a big name...

Is that really something that you need a spoiler warning for? I mean, by the time this movie is released next year, we're going to know who's in it, right down to the extras!

Considering the Scarecrow wasn't dead after the first movie, is it really a spoiler if he comes back for the sequel?

maybe not, but its a little surprising. at least to me.

but in a good way. im glad he didnt kill of scarecrow and you'd think scarecrow would be even better now that he has gone crazy from his own fear toxin.

Well we know the current trend is not to kill popular comic villians in comic movies just in case they need them later. And the whole exposure to what was most likely a permantaly damaging dose of his own psyco-toxin (not to mention the fact that could even add a physical disfigurement angle since Racheal burned up the wiring in his mask) keeps and well excuted, and escalted Scarcrow on the back burner for later use, so it's more than reasonable to assume we'll see him again if this series can maintain steam (and frankly there's a real risk that this series will die hard at The Dark Knight from fanboys placing it on so high a pedastal that any seqaul no matter how good would end up being a huge dissapointment, ala Spiderman 3).

That said... when I see a bunch of guy standing around a guy with a bag over his head in a parking lot near a van, my first thought I think shakdown, before I think Scarecrow... but who knows? I'd like to see them skip a movie before bringing bigger-badder Scrawcrow back into the game, I think it'd be more effective, but really who knows?

Batman Begins is NOT a prequel to the other Batman movies. Batman Begins is NOT connected to Tim Burton or Joel Schumacher's films. Begins is an entirely new story, completely independent of the other Batman movies.

Batman begins IS of course, the prequel to the other films. That's why they showed the joker card in the last few minutes. To set up how he next fights (jack nicholson's) joker. this next one is the prequel of the batman movie with arnold as 'mr freeze'. at the end of it, commissioner gordon holds out a box that says 'awful performance' on it, and has ice cubes inside and he says 'this guys been 'skating' around town and leaving these sweet babies, we better watch out for him' and batman says 'i'm gonna need a bigger codpiece'.
my friend saw them filming that part.
spoiler warning!

I know you're just being a jackass, but how the hell would what you said even make sense since it wasn't the Joker who killed Bruce Waynes parents like in the Tim Burton movie AND based on the sceen you reference would make no sense since at the beginning of Tim Burtons movie Jack Nicholsons character hadn't even become The Joker yet. Have you even seen these movies?

Spoiler warning
Scarborough Fair, put your spoiler warnings at the beginning of your post, not after I read it :p

Maybe this scene has something to do with Batman not being able to fight properly in his mask from the last movie and it causes him to get beat by Scarecrow, so he rips it off and makes the new suit we've read about the other day?
Spoiler Warning?

Big Brother, have YOU seen Batman Begins at all? the card shown at the end is the 'Joker of Hearts', also known as 'the apprehensive apprentice Joker' by poker enthusiasts worldwide. This is obviously hinting at how jack nicholson had not YET became the joker, but was toying with the idea and leaving cards around town, like a little 'should I do this thing or WHAT' survey. You'd know this if you ever rented the special edition DVD's and watched the deleted scene from the ending, where there is also a phone number you can call on the other side of the card so that the people of Gotham city could let Jack Nicholson know what they thought of him becoming the joker.
Commish gordon says 'im gonna call it' and he does, and batman grabs the red phone and says 'NO. you shouldn't! and stop commiting CRIMES'
and they both high five and leave the office, but the phone is off the hook and it says 'thank you for calling, please leave your opinion after the beep' and then it beeps, so jack nicholson never got his message, so he becomes the joker.
just like in the comics

Uh... how did you get confused about this? What evidence suggests that Batman Begins had anything to do with the older films?
It's an obvious reboot. Remove the old ones from your mind.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! This guy's crackin me up!

And Bigbrother has ZERO sense of humor whatsoever...

Hey ScarFair, how, in your mind, do you explain Scarecrow coming back for this film after being tasered in the face? What's the "behind the scenes" of that? Don't forget your spoiler warning. LOL
