I love the dry humor and I love it when old men are grumpy. This movie made me laugh and I'm not ashamed of it. Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau are great together.... More

Lessons of Darkness was definitely one of his weaker pieces. To quickly sum up what I didn't like about the film - it felt incomplete. The 55 minute run time only touched on what probably could have been one of his better documentaries. The film was mostly shown through visuals and music. There was very little narration and only two or three short interviews. I believe Herzog's intentions were to make a 'fiction' movie from real footage. Anyway, it didn't work as well as I had hoped. Regardless, many of the images are amazing, meaning not all is wasted watching this film.
