When the movie was over, my wife turned to me and said "I liked Transformers better." I responded by slapping her with my pimp hand. People around us in the theatre looked shocked and dismayed at the fact that I struck my wife in public. Calmly I just said "She said she liked transformers better." Everyone was completely understanding then.

Later she told me that she didn't like Gwyneth Paltrow in her role. Due to the fact that my wife is Mexican or El Salvadorian or something, she often tells me how unsexy most American actresses are. I kind of agree with her, but I think Paltrow was toning down the sexiness because that's what the character called for. There was too much of her in the film, and most of her appearance was a bit bland. The sexual tension between characters seemed forced.

Anyway, the movie was solid. As much so as Batman Begins, but with laughs. Even though some of the subject matter of the film was serious, the light-hearted material worked when it was supposed to, and it never got cheesey. This is a great work of solid filmwork. I hope Ed Norton and crew are taking notes right now.

One complaint: The soundtrack/music score was completely forgettable. I've always liked to link my superheroes to orchastrated music in my head, but this one had nothing to offer.
