Good morrow and welcome to The Film Cricket, my new blog here at RottenTomatoes. I should let people know now that I'm no greenhorn when it comes to the blogoshpere. To the contrary, my last forray into the world of weblogs lead to a cult sensation called "Typing With Two Fingers."

For the vast minority of you unfamiliar with TWTF, it was a journal run through blogspot that served as a forum for me to run my mouth on everything from booze-fueled adventures and marijuana-induced "Highdeas" to commonplace annoyances and the fast-expanding (and wholly unholy) world of helper-robot technology. As you can imagine, the page was slightly scattershot.

With this latest mogrification of my blogging abilities, I'm hoping to narrow the field a bit in terms of my subject matter. Mind you, it's likely that the above mentioned themes from Two Fingers will creep back into these posts from time to time, but I'd like the focus to remain on movies.

Movies are one of my big passions in life. I love to research, watch, analyze and critique them. I try to see a movie every week in the theaters, plus I just started Netflix, so I'll have plenty of content to write about.

What I'm not going to do is delve back into my memory and attempt to write reviews for films I saw a while ago or whatever. No, instead I'll be dealing exclusively with material I've just recently encountered, in order to keep things on the cutting edge.

My reviews will be counted in terms of Chirps, simply because I can't think of another item that relates to Crickets and I'm kind of settled on calling it The Film Cricket. That's because this was the name of a short-lived video review show produced by me and a friend in 8th grade. Call it Reppin.

So yeah, there'll be the Chirp Reviews (up to four, with half Chirps a possibility) on box office releases and DVDs, then there are just general Rants about whatever, along with juicy Rumors that I've either heard or am starting, some Top _ Lists, which will place in ascending order my favorites or least favorites in some category, and even Editor Letters like this one.

As you can see, there's quite a bit to look forward to with The Film Cricket. Check back as I chirp in with the Real McCoy on what's hot, who's not and how easily a robot that gives back massages could kill you in your sleep. Till then, this is The Film Cricket saying so long and pleasant viewing.
