First off I want to apologize for the long review. I always ramble on when I review movies I love, so I guess in this case that is a good thing. Casper is just...wow. I thought that this would be a forgettable family film, but I was way off. It's a very funny and warming film with an interesting premise and great performances from it's cast. Surprisingly I liked it better than " The Chumscrubber", my favorite film, so I have to say that this may be one of my favorite movie ever.( Until I see Avatar, then that will definately change :S )

Carrigan Crittenden (Cathy Moriarty) is furious to learn from her late father's lawyer that she has only inherited the crumbling manor in her father's will, rather than anything she desires( Greedy Biatch :P). Pissed off, she tosses the will and deed into a fireplace but it is rescued by her attorney and close associate Dibs. Dibs discovers an inscription on the will describing a treasure hidden in the manor. When they go to the massive home to investigate, they find out that the manor is haunted by four ghost: Casper is a friendly but lonely young ghost haunting his mansion with his three obnoxious uncles known as the Ghostly Trio named Stretch, Fatso and Stinkie. The two snoops run away, leaving Casper to feel sad that he has scared more humans, apparently disliking the experience of haunting, and his uncles satisfied. On a later day, Casper sees a news report about a therapist that helps the dead finish their businesses, Dr. James Harvey (Bill Pullman), whose wife is deceased . His daughter Kat (Christina Ricci) is seen on television and Casper instantly falls for her. Casper uses his ghostly powers to play the news report to Carrigan, who decides to contact Dr. Harvey. After this, Harvey and his daughter decide to move to the mansion. This is when the fun begins. The three uncles of Casper have a dual with Kat’s father involving a plunger, a vacuum cleaner and knights’ swords( The CGI on that is awesome). The two then realize what they are dealing with in this haunted house . Casper and Kat form a bond together that is so sweet, while Kat and her father clash with the Ghostly Trio on a daily basis, trying to deal with their annoying antics. There’s a scene where Kat is fighting with Stretch and she tells him to drop dead and get a grave. It made me laugh :P . There's also another plot where Cathy tries to find this treasure and dies to become a ghost and figure it out. Oh, and Casper's crossed-over father has a hidden machine that turns ghost into humans, but it only works once, so it's either Casper , who loves Kat and wants to humanly be with her, or Cathy, who is a greedy female dog. Also, one more human turns ghostly, but I will keep that incognito :X .

I was extremely surprised by this film. It's hard for me to explain, but I somehow love this movie. The story is at first predictable but the climax totally surprises you with the treasure and the ghost-turned-human machine and the secret chair-turnt-rollercoaster ( Too much info :C ). Critics said it was a cheesy family film, but it never crossed my mind that this played out like a cliche family film. I mean, Casper is the perfect family mascot and all, but the film is really more entertaining for older viewers than children. Kids relate to the state of Casper, being invisible and missunderstood, and most likely enjoy the fact that Casper is " The FRIENDLY ghost". It was filled with many inside jokes, like " I feel like Oprah on hiatus"( said by Fatso :S ) and the subject matter is a little mature. There was some cursing and kids might not be able handle the life and death matters, but it doesn't mean the film doesn’t work. Some critics were harsh on this film for unnecessary reasons, when it really is well-done. The story is a little predictable, but it isn’t too typical like most family movies and gets better near the climax.

The acting was really nice from Christina Ricci. I never used to think much of her, but now I really want to see her movies because she is a good actress. Bill Pullman was good, too. Cathy Moriarty played her role well, sorta like a Cruella De Vil of the story. The voice acting was good and the CGI was excellent. With a cameo from Devon Sawa at the end of the film, this is the total package.

I was really laughing out loud with the jokes, so I think it works as a comedy. Overall, I love this film, it's heart-warming nature and the cast. If you want a movie that will leave you smiling until the end, I Highly recommend Casper to all viewers who love Friendly ghosts. :P

I guess when you're a ghost, life just doesn't matter that much anymore.
- Casper ( Words of wisdom. )

I had been obsessed with seeing this movie for so long, and when I finally got the chance to see it today, I was blown away at how good it was. This is an absolutely amazing, amazing, amazingly AMAZING film. As I think back, I can realize why some people didn't like this film. It is a very depressing subject that may send a negative message of the Black-community to some( Although I wasn't really feeling offended), the story is very strongly portrayed and the direction could have been better, but who can honestly not love this film's influence? The power that "Precious" contains is so impressive that it is hard not to love this grim tale of despair, sadness and darkness, which has a small ting of Hope lying somewhere beneath it all.

The story is about a teenage girl living in 1987 Harlem named Claireece Precious Jones who has it really bad. She is illiterate, poor, overweight and abused sexually by her father( Who got her pregnant)and physically and sexually by her mother . She is 16 in junior high and pregnant with her second child. Sounds really bad, right? What's even worse is that she is forced to help her mother reach orgasm levels : Disgusting ,I know.( She says in her own words " I thought she'd been stopped this shit..."). A little overdramatic, but I'm sure that this goes on in some very sick people's homes.

The principal of Precious' junior high tells her she can't attend school in her condition and tells her that she is suspended. A while later at Precious' apartment, after getting abused by her mother, the principal tells Precious over the intercom that she has enrolled her into an alternative school. Is it then that we begin to feel the raw truth of this movie, and it works so good that you may be speechless at the end.

The acting is ABSOLUTELY positively amazing. This newcomer Gabourey Sidibe is amazing. Wikipedia sources said that this was her first real acting experience, which really surprised me. She will definately go far if she continues acting because her performance was Academy-Award worthy. Paula Patton and Lenny Kravitz are right up there with her, too. They did great jobs, and Lenny Kravitz is awesome in general, so they gave the movie another boost. As for Mo'Nique, I was amazed. She is probably one of the funniest comediannes ever, but when she got into character in this film, it was frighteningly real. I really was surprised by her acting in this. She really was convincing as an abusive mother. It was scary to see her look so ferocious, and near the end of the film where she explains her actions towards Precious, it is heartbreaking and saddening. Mariah Carey was the one who most surprised me. She played a social worker with frizzy black hair and a worn-out look. It was interesting to see her so vulnerable because most of her other roles were with her covered in make-up, so she did excellent as well.

Overall, this is an extraordinary film. Although the whole film makes you feel sad for Precious and depressed from her situation, there is a hidden feeling of salvation spread out beneath her problems. The ending of the film really isn't an ending, but more of a to-be-continued. It shows that Precious has gone through a lot but will keep on going. The delivery of this movieis great and the acting is 101% fantastic, so this film will forever stay in my heart and on my DVD shelf :"P . Four Stars, 100%, and maybe the best film of '09, Precious is an uplifting movie in disguise that should stay in people's hearts for a long time. :P

37 % Tomatometer
Consensus: Loosely based on a true story, The Exorcism of Emily Rose mixes compelling courtroom drama with generally gore-free scares in a ho-hum take on demonic cinema.

I would agree with this consensus on a few levels, but I think that this movie is better than a " ho-hum take on demonic cinema".

The story is about a young woman named Emily Rose who was believed to be possesed by the devil. After an attempted exorcism, Emily dies. Her parish priest, Father Richard Moore(played by Tom Wilkinson), who performed the exorcism is accused of negligent homicide. He is determined to tell Emily's story to the court, not caring of his punishment. In court, his lawyer Erin Bruner ( played by Laura Linney) tries to convince the people of the jury that the priest's story is valid by bringing in eye witnesses of Emily's behavior and religion specialist to prove that Emily Rose was not murdered, but died of supernatural causes.
( Sounds pretty cool right?)

Jennifer Carpenter's acting is good in this film. She is pretty convincing as a possessed young women. I screamed JUST A LITTLE at some parts of the exorcism scenes( I was a scaredy cat back then :O ) because it is a little disturbing to watch this innocent woman go through this scary situation. I think the cast was chosen wisely becuase they were all good in this film, so that's another plus.

This isn't the SCARIEST movie ever, nor the best, but it is a pretty good thriller/court-room drama film that is very good with it's subject matter, and when a film makes me scream like a little girl, I think it deserves some credit :P .

I dunno Isaiah. I would probably place this right in the 60 category. Tom Wilkinson was great (as always) and the courtroom stuff wasn't bad, but the whole story just kind of left me...meh. Not scary enough and not gory enough and not intriguing enough. Just...meh.

This movie was freaky to me as well. I find biblical horror movies a little more scarier than slasher films such as Jason or Micheal Myers etc etc. After seeing this film it sparked an interest to look into the actual story of Emily Rose. I found the exorcism recording and that was a little creepy to me. After hearing that then i was done nosing around on the story. I think in Germany they released a film that was more of a true version of what really happened.

I liked it, and I agree that it is underrated. I'd give it a 75-80% out of 100, if only for one particular scene. It may be the scariest one in the film, and it consists simply of one character staring at another; no special effects, no weird music, just acting. That scene stuck with me. The film moves right along, doesn't slow down. Worth seeing.

Today I decided to look through my cable box for movies from past years that I wanted to see ,and I stumbled upon this little flick. I remembered seeing the trailer and deciding not to see the movie, but when I came across this and saw that it was free on demand, I decided to watch it since I had nothing better to do. Hmmmmmmm... Now I know that " I Know Who Killed Me " is an unpopular film, critically panned and disliked by movie-goers alike. That being said, I am a little embarrased to say that a part of me loved this film. Before I get chewed out on this review, let me explain myself and why I think this is good.

First of all, the story is not as bad as all this negative critiscms have said. A young teenage girl, aspiring writer Aubrey Fleming, who is represented by the color blue, for all of her belongings are this color, is kidnapped and tortured by an unknown assalant with a blue screen mask. Her body is found barely alive on the side of a highway, and when she comes to consciousness again inside the hospital she resides in, it is revealed that her right arm and leg have been amputated because of the mutilated state they were in. Aubrey claims to be a down-on-her-luck drug-addict stripper named Dakota Moss, who is represented by the color red, all of her clothes have the dark shades of this color. When she returns to her home, Aubrey/Dakota has no memory of the house, nor does she recognize any of her belongings. As she tries to figure out who she is exactly, Aubrey/Dakota is plagued by grisly flashbacks of the torture the killer inflicted and she becomes dillusional trying to figure out who exactly caused this mess. When you think about it, this is a clever plot. You have to pay close attention to the symbols hinted at in the film. The colors are the most obvious, and they give you a piece of info on the twist of the movie. This story is seemingly predictable but proves you different when you watch the actual film. Many critics found this to be ludacris, but I think it is effective.

Second of all, the acting was really good on Lindsay Lohan's part , so I'm lost with the numerous Razzie award nominations. When an actress like Lindsay Lohan is constantly being bugged by the press for her drinking, drug-addictions, arrests and etc., you can't expect a Frances McDormand performance, but Lindsay Lohan was really good in this. I think it's partly because of the events that she went through while filming this movie that helped her boost her performance as a lowly, sleazy and bitchy stripper. Speaking of strippers, Lindsay's stripper scenes were very erotic and sexy. The sex scene between Aubrey/Dakota and Jerrod Pointer( Aubrey's boyfriend) is very sexy, too and it's kinda funny at the same time. You have to watch the movie to understand why. Neal McDonough and Julia Ormond also did good performances as the parents of the protagonist.

The overall delivery of the movie is kinda sloppy, and sometimes unintentionally funny. But the movie is still able to keep it together most of the time. The payoff scene is a little uncertain, when the killer is revealed, and you find yourself wondering about the events that you've just witnessed, whether or not they are reality or fiction or non-existent, which is something I admire in a movie. The scenes are sometimes too overdramatic, but it's not to the point where you can't enjoy the film. The suspense of the climax scene is really flat, and a bit anti-climatic, but it's a weird ending to a weird movie. I can understand that people didn't like this movie, but you need to understand what you are dealing with. This is definately a so-bad-it's-sort-of-good-movie for some, while I think it is just good. I can tell that the director tries to mimic other more successful movies like " Donnie Darko" to get it's weird undertone, but this is a good effort.

Overall, I Know Who Killed Me is an ok movie that is not as bad as perceived, and it really surprised me. I am probably going to get bad reception from firm-haters of this, but I really don't see the big deal of this, No film like this can be perfect, so you have to lower your standards a little bit and just sit back and enjoy the film. :P

Consensus: Breathtaking animation, talented vocal work, and a well-written screenplay add up to another Pixar success.

This is a mere speck of an explanation of how good this movie is. This is one of the greatest animated movies I have ever seen in my life. I am being a little over-dramatic, ( :x ), but I loooooooved this movie.

One of it's best aspects is that the story is ABSOLUTELY original:
A young clownfish, Nemo, is taken by Australian scuba divers and his father, Marlin, embarks on an extraordinary journey to find Nemo. Marlin is Nemo's overprotective father. The reason he is overprotective is because Nemo's mom and fifty-something brothers and sisters were eaten by a barracuda while they were in their protective egg. Nemo was the lucky one, escaping with just a crack on his egg, penetrating his fin ( His "Lucky Fin" ). Marlin names him Nemo because his wife wanted one of their fish children to have a unique name.( The rest of his siblings were to either be called " Marlin jr" or " Coral jr." ) As Nemo's first day of school approaches, Nemo's father keeps him close by as they swim to the port. When they reach the bus-stop, Marlin tries to tell a joke to the fellow fathers with no avail. When the man-ray bus leads the kids to an area near open waters, a couple other kids( A pink squid, an H20-intolerant seahorse, and an angel fish) stray away from the class to a dare him to touch the bottom of a boat ( They call it the butt) and as Marlin rushes in to stop him, causing Nemo to utter the most deadliest words an overly protective father can ever hear, " I Hate You", the divers come into the picture, believing Nemo to be a lost clownfish. Marlin desperately chases the boat that steals his son, but fails. As he slips into a temporary depression while swimming home, he is knocked down by Ellen DeGeneres' character, Dory, who has short-term-memory loss. He decides to take her along even though she's a nuinsance to him. She is extremely funny. She is the funniest character in the movie, abundant with hilarious one-liners. My favorite is when she says " Hey guys, go easy on him. He's lost his son, Fabio..." to a school of fish they met on their journey.

The undersea creatures that Marlin and Dory come across are very interesting, such as a threesome of vegetarian sharks, ( Which is the best idea ever. :P), a group of jellyfish, a whale with a good nature, and so many others. The fishtank inhabitants that Nemo meets are very funny and unique like the pink starfish ( Spongebob Squarepants, ring a bell? ) and Jacques, the French shrimp, or the purple fish with a twin sister, A.K.A her reflection. This is an absolutely endearing film and it one of my favorite animated films. It has the right amount of jokes that are funny for adults and kids. Most of them are from Dory, the funniest fish you'll ever meet. :P

The makers of this film should be proud of themselves for this achievement and nobody can say this movie wasn't good unless you are a jerk, then I have pity for you. :P

I really was warmed by this film. I've never been a fan of period movies, but I absolutely loved this one. The main characters are so likable, making everything that happens to them effect you. The actors and actresses were very convincing with their dialogue and accents. This is Frances McDormand's best performance since " Fargo". Amy Adams also does an excellent job, too along with Tom Payne, Lee Pace and Mark Strong. The comedy and sexual innuendoes were very light and not l-o-l funny, so some people might not have liked it, but I loved it. This is a very good movie that surpassed my expectations.

Jennifer Lopez is a good actress, but she always seems to get the critically panned movies, and this one is in that catergory somewhat, but I really liked this film. It had a really good opening scene and was good from that point on, and had some really good acting. The story is a little formulatic with the romantic-drama story, but the movie is pretty nice. It isn't anything extraordinary but definately an entertaining movie.

This is my favorite movie ever and possibly one of the best movies ever period, despite critical reaction. I LOVE it. I always enjoy films by Camilla Belle and Jamie Bell, so putting them together definately was an upside for me. The story of suburban life and the ignorance of the parents was very well-executed with great writing, the acting was fantastic from all the actors and actresses in this film. It was a little weird watching all the people in the movie in their everyday lives experimenting with drugs and things, but it worked so well. It seems to be an anti-drug film showing what people will do for addictions, especially high-schoolers. I can understand why critics were mixed about this film . You have to realize what the main characters are going through, understand their situations and you have to have a sense of humor. Obviously the critics who didn't like this movie didn't have any of these traits, but the movie did win the Audience Award for best film in Main Competition. It is definately a movie for weird people , like me, and if you liked "Donnie Darko" you will love this movie. :P

This is the best horror movie EVER made in the history of movies. Enough said. Well, I guess I can elaborate. The stories in the film were excellent in expressing that Halloween is supposed to be a time to protect mortals from the dead and malevolent spirits. The twists in all the stories were well done, especially in Anne Paquin's story( ABSOLUTELY AMAZING). The acting was very good and the dialogue seemed realistic unlike most films in this genre. This movie is a cult classic and should be in every horror fan's DVD collection. Even non-horror fans should love this movie. This movie is like a well-organized haunted house with little gore and lots of fun scares. Definately a MUST-SEE.

I liked this movie, don't get me wrong, but it just doesn't work too much as a romantic-comedy. Some parts were funny, like the scene where Vivica A. Fox and her friends talk about their relationships,( quote Mo'Nique: baby got the lead pipe!) or the scene where Mo'nique (or Diedre in the film) wants to " yank Keith's neck", but other than that and a couple of parts the movie isn't l-o-l funny. Mo'Nique really saved the film by giving some comic relief. I did like that Vivica A. Fox talked to the audience while the movie progressed. The acting was pretty good and all the performers are really attractive, especially Vivica A. Fox. It might have work better as a mockumentary-comedy with a smarter script and a better ending, but it is alright for what it's worth. At least the end credits made me laff. :P
