Let's talk about Paris, Texas
Talk about a movie with so many different, and honest feelings, this film has it's own unique atmosphere that slowly and slowly sucks you in it's grasp. I had to watch it over 2 nights, the first night I watched 45 minutes, and last night I finished it. Great performances, excellent photography, excellent score, and just a gripping tale. Also, what did the color red symbolize? it was used often in the last half.
Discuss and rate...

A contender for my favourite film, probably. It devastates me.

It's one of those films that I saw and filed it away as being a pretty good movie, but about a year later it suddenly hit me just how good it is. These kinds of movies usually end up being my favorite.
The peep show monologue KILLS.

I saw this movie, but it's been so long I wouldn't dare rate it - though I do recall really liking it.

I just looked it up here on RT. It was released in 1984! That's probably when I saw it.
By the by, it has a tomatometer of 100%. |

An extraordinary film with a heartbreaking final hour. Easily one of the best films I have ever seen.

I saw it not too long ago and it's an amazing film. The last hour is absolutely brilliant, Nastassja Kinski gives probably my favourite female performance, and the ending twist is superbly fitting. An incredible film, and was apparently Kurt Cobain's favourite film.

Fantastic film that lies somewhere in my top 20 or so films. 9.5/10
Now you should watch Wings of Desire.

My favorite film. I can watch Harry Dean Stanton and Dean Stockwell play off each other all day. Wim Wenders' sense of space and color is genius, as well.

My thoughts on Wings of Desire will be posted in a few hours. I think it's every bit a masterpiece.

IE... where do you rank A Serious Man in the Coen's filmography?

I'm not sure, for I'm hardly a Coens completist, or as large a fan as most. Nonetheless, A Serious Man has grown on me since the night I've seen it, and I'll probably take it in again before I pass any serious judgment on it...or as serious as my judgment gets for that matter. I probably prefer it to No Country, for what that's worth.

I've wanted to see Paris, Texas for years now. I first heard about it on Ebert's Great Movies list.
